when & where
Solmukohta 2004 will be held from Thursday, the 19th of February, to Sunday, the 22nd of February, at the conference hotel Matinlahti in Espoo, about 14 kilometers from downtown Helsinki. This means that those signing up early will be sleeping on comfortable beds during the convention. A large shopping mall, with diverse restaurant services and shopping opportunities, is located within walking distance of the hotel.
There is a bus connection from the hotel to the centre of Helsinki. Bus tickets cost 3 euros. Note that you need a "seutulippu" (regional ticket), a ticket that can be used for 70 minutes to travel on all the busses, trams, subways, local trains and even on some local ferries in the greater Helsinki area (Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen).
The bus lines 5, 11, 31, 35, 132 and 503 pass close the hotel Matinlahti. The name of the bus stop is Matinlahti.
Bus 132 drives from the centre of Helsinki to the viscinity of the hotel in about 20 minutes. At the moment the bus station that hosts all the lines that travel to Espoo is under major rehaul in Helsinki. The platforms for various lines have been distributed around the construction site, and at the moment 132 leaves from platform 55 on Urho Kekkosen katu (Urho Kekkonens gata). It is propably a good idea to reserve a little time to find the right platform. Note that the bus line is not trafficed from around 1 am. to 6 am. (variations depending on the weekday).
The address of the hotel is Rantam”ki 3, and it is in the city of Espoo, in the district called Matinkyl”. Taxi from the airport or the harbour probably costs around 30 euros.
